English Country Garden
The clients were struggling with their large
overgrown garden, the grounds of which
were over half an acre. They particularly
wanted a a semi-formal front garden and
larger areas adjoining the house for
entertaining, relaxing and taking advantage
of surrounding views.
We created an Octagonal ornamental lawn in the front garden with surrounding seating, mirrored by trellis on the outside of the space to create an intimate courtyard feel. By the river we designed a paved seating area with a rustic folly which could be seen from the courtyard and the house to create visual interest. We extended their existing patio and designed a rectangular off-set lawn surrounded by planting, which led the eye to a decorative trellis dressed in Summer and Winter flowering Jasmine.

This Contemporary Garden was designed for clients with a large
South facing garden. They were keen to incorporate their spiritual
beliefs in the garden design and additionally wanted low
maintenance with large areas for entertainment, relaxation and
meditation.
We designed a large patio leading to an L shaped swimming pool via a decked sunbathing area. On the opposite side we created an entertainment deck, a key aspect of which was bespoke seating with inset screens simulating fire. To bring an element of spirituality to the garden we designed a statute of the symbol OM and and added a Meditation hut in the far right corner surrounded in black bamboo and perspex screens to create privacy and a sense of seclusion.

Entertainment Garden
The client had a large front garden but wanted an area of
planting and paving outside his log cabin gym to relax on,
eat lunch and entertain friends while catching the afternoon
sun. We used curves for the seating area and planting
beds to create a static space perfect for winding down and
to soften the rectilinear log cabin.
Fruit Pickers Paradise
The clients had a South west
facing garden of approximately 2
1/2 acres situated alongside a
motorway. Although they
enjoyed their garden, the noise
meant that they had no wish to
sit outside for extended periods
of time.
We designed this garden to create movement through the grounds with curved paths and perspex roofed pergolas supporting Kiwi and grape vines. Fruit trees grow through out the garden, giving reason for a slight pause. The oval lawn is mirrored in the shape of the vegetable and fruit beds, creating harmony while retaining a informal feel.
The Fruit picking concept was inspired by the client's love of making her own jams, wine and even ice cream and as they were considering opening the garden to the public at certain times, the availability of fruit to pick offered another reason to visit the garden.

Small Family Garden
Small Family Garden Section Elevation
The client had two very young twin sons
whose garden wasn't safe to play in at the
time due to a 30ft drop behind a rotten
fence at the rear. A key part of the design
brief was to address the safety concerns.
They also wanted an area for entertaining
small groups, a children's play area, and
space for vegetable beds and composting;
all in a very small space.
We used curves to make the most effective use of space, with a curved wall patio stepping up to an oval lawn. We sited the children's play area on rubber, clearly visible from the patio.
Large wooden vegetable planters were placed at the rear of the garden in front of a fence and lockable gate which provides secure access to the large drop behind the rear fence. A tall conifer grows behind the compost area restricting access to the rear fence.

Structural Design
This was simple design to help a client to visualise a
new structure, in this case a stone and brick staircase to
the lawn and a path of stepping stones embedded in
pebbles across the back of the house.
Circular Family Garden
The clients loved the idea of circles and wanted large areas to entertain
and a lawn for the children to play.
Our design included a new paved patio with a large semi circular planting bed to add interest, a curved wooden pergola mirroring a curved brick fish pond, a circular lawn clearly defined with brick edging and a children's play area tucked away at the rear of the garden, partially hidden by raised brick walls.

Japanese Garden
The client collected Japanese ornaments and was keen to have
a simple Japanese influenced design to grow nice plants and
relax in during the Summer evenings.
Our design: the smaller brick circle in the patio surrounds a large Japanese Lantern. Across the lawn the eye is drawn to a granite bench with a backdrop of varying levelled bamboo stakes. The lawn is surrounded by gravel with a minimalist plant scheme including two small Acers, a Japanese cherry, anemones, ornamental grasses, Iris and bamboo.
